Currently, the government is placing special attention on Indonesian Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) in growing the country's economy. However, the growth of MSMEs also has a very negative impact on the environment, especially matters related to pollution.

Pollution produced by SMEs can come from various sources, such as production waste, exhaust emissions, and the use of hazardous chemicals. If not managed properly, pollution from SMEs can endanger public health and the surrounding environment.
Therefore, the government also needs to pay special attention to environmental management in the MSME sector. This effort can be carried out like providing education, training on waste management and hazardous materials, as well as monitoring MSME compliance with environmental regulations.

In addition, MSMEs can also take actions that are environmentally responsible, such as using environmentally friendly materials and more efficient use of energy which is recommended. This not only helps protect the environment, but can also enhance the image and market value of MSME products.

This has actually been regulated in Law Number 23 of 2009 concerning Environmental Protection and Management. It was stated that MSMEs are not included in the obligation to prepare an AMDAL and UKL/PKL, but are required to prepare a statement of commitment to waste management and environmental monitoring (SPPL).

In order to achieve sustainable development, environmental management in the MSME sector must be a serious concern and long-term planning. With the right efforts and collaboration between the government, MSMEs, and the community, a healthy environment can be created for every generation.

As for reducing pollution produced by MSMEs, it is important to have cooperation and awareness from various parties. For example, the government provides stricter regulations for MSMEs that do not pay attention to the environmental impact of their activities. Then the government can also provide incentives for MSMEs that have taken into account environmental impacts and act responsibly.

Meanwhile, MSMEs also need to increase awareness and skills in managing hazardous waste and materials. The government can provide appropriate training and education so that MSMEs can implement environmentally friendly practices.

Other communities as consumers also have an important role in reducing pollution from MSMEs. Consumers can choose MSME products that are environmentally friendly and support MSMEs that act responsibly.

In the long term, environmental management in the MSME sector must become an integral part of the MSME business strategy. MSMEs that take into account environmental impacts in their activities will become more sustainable and able to compete in a global market that is increasingly concerned about environmental issues.

In the end, environmental management in the MSME sector is very important to maintain human health and the surrounding environment. Cooperation from the government, MSMEs and the community is needed to create a healthy and sustainable environment as a form of synergy between MSMEs and other sustainable sectors.
