CONSUMER RIGHTS THAT MSMEs NEED TO KNOW

Consumer Rights refer to the rights granted to individuals as users of goods or services. As an MSME player, it is important to understand consumer rights in order to run a business well and ensure customer satisfaction. The following are several consumer rights regulated by the Consumer Protection Law in Indonesia.

The Right to Comfort, Security and Safety

Consumers have the right to obtain goods or services that are safe to use and comply with expected quality standards. Also, MSMEs must ensure that consumer personal information is stored and managed in a secure manner and in accordance with applicable data protection regulations.

Right to Vote

Consumers have the right to choose from a wide range of products or services available. Consumers also have the right to compare products and services before making a purchasing decision.

The Right to Clear and Honest Information

Consumers have the right to obtain clear, honest and accurate information about the products or services offered, including prices, specifications and return policies.

Right to be Heard of Opinions and Complaints

Consumers have the right to express opinions or submit complaints if consumers are not satisfied with the products or services they receive. Consumers also have the right to receive adequate responses and satisfactory solutions from MSME players.

Right to Consumer Information and Education

Consumers have the right to receive adequate education and information about consumer rights, as well as ways to protect themselves in consumer transactions.

Right to a Satisfaction Guarantee

Consumers have the right to be satisfied with their purchases. If the goods or services do not match what was promised or expected, consumers have the right to request a refund or replacement of goods or repair of services.

MSMEs that understand and respect consumer rights will be able to build good relationships with customers, increase trust and strengthen business reputation. Additionally, understanding and protecting consumer rights is key to running an ethical and responsible business.
