Organic waste is waste that can be completely broken down through biological processes, both aerobic and anaerobic. Organic waste that can be decomposed through biological processes is easy to decompose, such as food waste, vegetables, pieces of wood, dry leaves, and so on.
Compost is the result of the weathering of organic materials such as leaves, straw, reeds, trash, grass and other similar materials. Organic waste comes from living creatures, whether humans, animals or plants. Examples of organic waste can be divided into two types, namely wet organic waste and dry organic waste.
The following are examples of materials that can be recycled from two types of organic waste.
Wet Organic Waste
Wet organic waste is waste that has a fairly high water content. Examples include fruit peels, food waste and vegetable waste.
Dry Organic Waste
Unlike wet organic waste, dry organic waste is waste that has a small water content. Examples of dry organic waste include paper, wood or tree branches, and dry leaves.
Here are some examples of materials that can be recycled into natural fertilizer and can be made at home.
Banana Peel
The potassium content in bananas (as fertilizer) functions to regulate carbon dioxide absorption and maintain cell turgor pressure. Bananas contain high potassium which can be used as organic fertilizer. To do this, boil one liter of water with four to five banana peels for 20 minutes, then use a strainer and just save the liquid. After that, cool the liquid before pouring it into a spray bottle that will be used to spray the plants every 15 days.
Eggshells
By making homemade fertilizer with eggshells, Great Friends can provide plants with an additional source of calcium. Eggshells are an important nutrient for plants to add and help them have strong resistance.
Rusty Nail
Nails that have rusted usually can no longer be used. However, Great Friends can use it as a fertilizer spike for plants. Rusty nails can make plants grow healthier and stronger.
Aspirin
Apart from being good for human health, aspirin can be healthy for plants. To use it, dilute one aspirin tablet in one liter of water, then sprinkle the liquid directly on the leaves and soil.
Coffee Beans
Coffee beans can provide plants with very important nutrients, namely nitrogen. It is best to apply this coffee bean fertilizer in the first phase of plant development.
With the increasing need to protect the environment, Great Friends must reduce the use of chemical fertilizers by using homemade fertilizers.
