Yayasan Astra Returns to GIIAS 2026, Strengthening the Automotive Industry Ecosystem through MSME/SSI Development and Human Capital Building

Ahead of the Gaikindo Indonesia International Auto Show (GIIAS) 2026, running from 30 July to 9 August 2026 at ICE BSD, Tangerang, Yayasan Astra will once again take part with a booth in the Main Hall concourse. 2026 marks a special year, as Yayasan Astra brings together two of its institutions: Yayasan Dharma Bhakti Astra (Yayasan Astra - YDBA), which develops Small and Medium Industries (SMIs), and ASTRAtech, under Yayasan Astra Bina Ilmu (Yayasan Astra - YABI), which focuses on developing human capital for the automotive industry.

This year, the Yayasan Astra booth will be located at the Convention Hall Concourse, Nusantara Hall, ICE BSD, under the overarching theme “Yayasan Astra Supports the Automotive Industry Ecosystem.” Through this participation, Yayasan Astra invites GIIAS visitors to get to know and understand the spirit of collaboration in building the automotive industry ecosystem.

Telling the Story of MSMEs/SMIs on Their Journey into the Automotive Supply Chain

Since it was established on 2 May 1980 — now marking 46 years — Yayasan Astra - YDBA has developed MSMEs/SMIs across various sectors, namely manufacturing, four-wheeled vehicle workshops, handicrafts and culinary businesses, and agriculture, spread across Java, East Kalimantan, South Kalimantan, Central Kalimantan, North Sumatra, and East Nusa Tenggara.

In 2025, the transaction value between the Astra Group and SMIs developed by Yayasan Astra - YDBA reached Rp5 trillion. Yayasan Astra - YDBA also recorded an average of 2,000 active MSMEs per year, absorbing 15,800 workers annually. This is the result of a phased development approach, beginning with strengthening basic business mentality and continuing through the implementation of Quality, Cost, and Delivery (QCD) standards, enabling these businesses to meet the supply chain requirements of Astra Group’s Authorized Distributors as well as Tier 1 suppliers in the automotive industry.

At the booth, this story will be brought to life through the Two-Wheeler and Four-Wheeler Industry Tree installations, which illustrate the involvement of components produced by SMI partners within the two-wheeler and four-wheeler vehicle ecosystems, complete with sample parts and data on the Tier 1 suppliers they have reached.

ASTRAtech: 30 Years of Shaping Industry Talent for the Nation

Beyond the MSME/SMI side, Yayasan Astra, through YABI overseeing ASTRAtech, will also showcase 30 years of achievement in producing competent human resources through its Dual System vocational education model, which integrates classroom theory with hands-on, on-the-job experience within the Astra Group and various industry partners.

At the Yayasan Astra booth, visitors can experience the hands-on learning that defines the ASTRAtech Dual System (ADS) firsthand, including the Hybrid Vehicle Trainer and Welding Simulator, which offer industry-standard practical experience. Visitors can also learn about the Bachelor Professional in Automotive Mechatronics program, the first German-style Meister program in Asia held by ASTRAtech to produce globally competitive automotive talent.

A Series of Activities Throughout GIIAS 2026

Over the two weeks of GIIAS 2026, Yayasan Astra will also present a series of activities, including a Field Trip collaboration with Asuransi Astra and PT Isuzu Astra Motor Indonesia, as well as a Talkshow collaboration with UD Trucks on 1 August 2026, and a Press Conference alongside a Financial Literacy Workshop collaboration with Astra Credit Companies (ACC) scheduled for 4 August 2026.

The Yayasan Astra booth also offers an interactive area for visitors, ranging from discussion sessions and product sampling from partner MSMEs, engaging games and a photo spot, to a lounge area and charging station — a space designed to build closer connections with visitors while introducing them further to the development ecosystem run by Yayasan Astra - YDBA and ASTRAtech.

“Through Yayasan Astra, Astra continues to strengthen the automotive industry through the involvement of MSMEs/SMIs and human resources. Our participation in GIIAS 2026 is a platform to share the long journey of this development work, while inviting the public to become better acquainted with the contribution of our partner MSMEs to the national automotive industry ecosystem,”

said Rahmat Samulo, Chairman of the Board of Yayasan Astra - Yayasan Dharma Bhakti Astra.

“The growing automotive industry needs talent that not only masters technology but also has strong character and is ready to work according to industry needs. ASTRAtech’s participation in GIIAS 2026 is an opportunity for us to showcase how the human capital development carried out through the ASTRAtech Dual System plays a role in strengthening the national automotive industry ecosystem,”

said Henri Paul, Director of ASTRAtech.

Yayasan Astra invites the public and media to visit the Yayasan Astra - YDBA x ASTRAtech booth at the Convention Hall Concourse, Nusantara Hall, ICE BSD, throughout GIIAS 2026, from 30 July to 9 August 2026.
