THE IMPORTANCE OF DOING PDCA IN WORK ACTIVITIES

PDCA stands for Plan, Do, Check, Act, and is a four-step problem solving process commonly used in quality control.

In establishing an organization or company, it must go through various stages or processes, such as planning, implementation or execution, control, supervision and quality maintenance to produce the best output.

To make high quality products based on consumer needs, Sahabat Besar needs to carry out a quality improvement program, namely through the implementation of the PDCA (Plan, DO, Check, Act) program.

Before we know the importance of doing PDCA, Great Friends also need to know a brief explanation about PDCA.

PLAN: FIND AND ANALYZE PROBLEMS

Great Friends need to explore cause and effect and 5W+1H to help find a problem and help find a solution.

DO: DEVELOP AND TEST POTENTIAL SOLUTIONS

At this stage, Great Friends need to choose the best solution before a program is fully implemented.

CHECK: MEASURING AND TESTING THE EFFICIENCY OF PREVIOUS SOLUTIONS AND ANALYZING WHETHER THEY CAN BE IMPROVED

At this stage, Best Friends need to evaluate the effectiveness of the temporary solution, then gather information from related parties to work together to make the solution more complete and repeat the execution stage to check again.

ACT: IMPLEMENT THE IMPROVED SOLUTION COMPLETELY

In this final stage, Great Friends only needs to fully implement the upgraded solution until it reaches complete stability.

After knowing the explanation about PDCA, Great Friends also need to know the importance of PDCA. The following are some of the benefits of PDCA.

  1. Promote the mapping of authority and responsibility of organizational units.
  2. As a work mode to improve processes or systems in the organization.
  3. Solve and control problems in a series of systematic ways.
  4. Carry out continuous improvement activities to shorten work processes.
  5. Eliminate waste in the workplace and increase productivity.

The four processes above, PDCA are continuous cycles and interact with each other. The PDCA cycle should be used to continuously improve the quality management system (organizational performance). Therefore, PDCA is a continuous process.

If the program or product meets the planned quality, the process can be used in the future. On the other hand, if the results do not match what was planned, the program must be repaired or replaced at a later date.
